Many partners are needed to help create a culture of Water SMART residents in Broward County to help protect our children from fatal and nonfatal drowning.
Local governments, health care providers, educators, community-based organizations, social service agencies, civic organizations, neighborhoods and faith-based institutions can serve as gatekeepers to become a Water Smart partner to influence everyone to adopt safer behaviors to protect children from drowning.
Water SMART Communities is an initiative designed to work with municipalities in Broward County to promote safe water practices within communities and eliminate hazards and factors attributed to drowning. The municipality has requirements to fulfill on a yearly basis. Depending on the goals met, the municipality will receive a recognition award for achieving one of the following three tiers: bronze, silver, or gold.
