Save a Life. Learn CPR.
Immediate Bystander CPR (with rescue breathing) is the most effective action that can be taken to resuscitate a drowning victim.
Delaying CPR until advanced medical help arrives is often too late!
Every drowning victim, even one who requires only minimal resuscitation before recovery, requires transport and evaluation at a medical facility. (American Heart Association)

Drowning Prevention “Save a Life”

Constant Supervision
- Infants and toddlers require constant and close supervision at all times, as an unsupervised child is likely to leave the home to find water and tragedy
- When around water, maintain constant visual contact with the children
- If a child is missing, check the pool first
- Appoint a “designated watcher” to monitor children at all times
- Keep a portable phone by the pool
Barriers
- Use layers of protection to prevent unsupervised access to and from pool
- Equip doors & windows that exit to pool with alarms
- Install four-sided isolation fencing
- Fencing should have self-closing, self latching gates and be at least 5 ft. high

Learning Water Safety Skills
- Teach water safety & swimming skills as early as possible
- Never swim alone. Always have an adult watching
- NO swimmer should be left alone. NO child is “drown proof”
- Good safety habits last a lifetime.
